Guided Aragon

Added value

Aragon is a land of contrasts, with an extraordinary historical, artistic, cultural, and natural heritage. From the peaks of the Pyrenees to the mountains of Teruel, passing through its cities, towns, and landscapes, every corner offers stories, experiences, and places to discover.

But visiting a destination and truly getting to know it are two different things. With the campaign “Guided Aragon: Added Value,” the Professional Association of Tourist Guides of Aragon (APGTA) aims to showcase how the work of tourist guides enriches the experience of those who visit our region, facilitating their understanding of its heritage, traditions, history, and landscape. This initiative seeks to highlight the value of guided tourism and raise awareness of everything these professionals contribute to the tourist experience in Aragon.

Discovering Aragon is much more than visiting its monuments

Aragon boasts some of Spain’s most outstanding heritage sites: the Mudéjar art recognized as a World Heritage Site, the monuments of Zaragoza, the medieval ensembles of Huesca and Teruel, monasteries, castles, archaeological sites, and numerous towns that preserve the traces of their past. But the value of these places goes far beyond their beauty or grandeur.

A tour guide helps us interpret what we see, understand how buildings were constructed, their function, how cities evolved, and what events left their mark on the region. A Mudéjar tower can explain centuries of coexistence and cultural exchange. A palace can reveal the political and social transformations of different eras. The streets of a historic center can help us understand how its inhabitants lived.

The added value of exploring Aragon with a guide lies in discovering the stories behind its monuments and landscapes. A diverse territory that deserves to be interpreted.

Aragon’s tourism heritage extends far beyond its grand monuments. The landscapes of the Pyrenees, the valleys and rivers, the protected natural areas, the rural regions, the villages, and the local traditions all contribute to an extraordinarily diverse tourism offering. Each of these resources has a story to tell.

Understanding how water has shaped a landscape, how traditional activities have transformed the land, or why certain places have acquired special significance allows visitors to discover aspects of Aragon that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Tourist guides help to showcase this diversity, connecting tourist attractions with the history, culture, and identity of each location. Their work allows visitors to explore both the most well-known destinations and other hidden corners of the region that also deserve to be discovered.
